The collection consists of digitised periodicals kept at Serbian libraries and archives, which greatly contribute to illuminating the centuries-old existence of Jewish communities in the Balkans, but also to understanding the wider social context of the historical periods in which they were published.

Old Dubrovnik is a mirror of the unique intersection of Romanesque, Slavic, Latin, Byzantine, Glagolitic and Cyrillic cultural traditions. Its poets and scholars wrote in the vernacular - the Shtokavian Eastern Herzegovinian dialect of Ijekavian pronunciation - as well as in Italian, Latin and Greek, following the poetic dominants of their epochs.

The digital collection on the Great War has been created as part of the Europeana Collections 1914–1918 project. The project aimed to digitize and publicly display over 400,000 publications created during World War I. As a project partner, the National Library of Serbia created a thematic website to gather and present all wartime publications related to the Serbian people.
