Travelogue, as a hybrid genre, contains documentary, autobiographical, biographical and fictitious elements. Travel literature is not only significant for literary studies, but also for the cultural-historical studies. The purpose of travelogue has been changing throughout the history of the genre, from didactic and instructive, to informative and entertaining. The travelogue is based on the dislocation of the author and his encounter with the unknown. The manner in which the traveler presents their impressions depends on the audience the travelogue is intended for. The items of this collection have various forms. Some of them have the epistolary form, or are written as diaries, drama dialogues, or in the form of documentary, narrative or memoir prose. The collection contains travelogues of Serbian well-known writers, diplomats and cultural workers of the 19th and the 20th century, who tried to convey their travel experiences to the readers in various ways. Some of them were Joakim Vujić, Ljubomir Nenadović, Milorad Rajčević, Jelena Dimitrijević, etc.
