Since the Jewish people first inhabited the territory of modern Serbia a few centuries ago, they have maintained and enriched their national, religious, cultural and social life through various activities organised in their communities, municipalities, synagogues, schools, sports and cultural associations, youth and female sections and humanitarian organisations. A special place within those activities has belonged to initiatives related to the written word and publishing, encompassing different kinds of publications and periodicals which covered various aspects of Jewish people’s lives in the country as well as worldwide. The collection encompasses all Jewish periodicals published in Serbia since 1888 to this day. It follows all 76 titles historically and chronologically, including the ones published until the beginning of the Second World War (47 titles), during the war (3 titles) and after the war (26 titles), six of which are still published to this day.
