A magazine of the Belgrade Women’s Society and its associates. It was published once every month, two months and three months. It was founded in 1879 and lasted until the beginning of the Second World War, but it wasn’t published during the First World War. It followed the work of the women’s associations, informing the public of their activities and meeting and work reports. It also contained literary and didactic articles. The magazine was founded thanks to Katarina Milovuk, the director of the Women’s College, who is also credited for the foundation of the Belgrade Women’s Society. Although the members of this society considered women equal to men, they still had a traditional and conservative worldview, reflected in the magazine content, which emphasized that the primary role of a woman is that of a mother and wife and that she belongs at home, with her husband and children. The magazine was modelled on foreign magazines - it cherished the femininity cult, but it also covered feminist topics and news on feminist movements worldwide.#
The Library of Matica Srpska, the Univesity Library Svetozar Markovic and the Public Library Vuk Karadzic Kragujevac contributed to the creation of the digital collection by digitizing the issues the National Library of Serbia was missing in its collection.#
